Electrical Fast Transient

Electrical Fast Transient Testing Services in Canada

Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) are high frequency pulses that occurs because of the arcing on the power lines due connection or disconnection. This also occurs when relays, contactors, motors, or any other inductive load are turned off, then power distribution system experiences bursts of narrow high-frequency transients which can affect the performance of electronic equipment or might damage it.

IEC 61000-4-4 defines the test procedure to simulate these electrical fast transients and test the product to verify its susceptibility level. At INTL Inc. we have EFT generator that complies with IEC 61000-4-4 requirement which can perform EFT test with following parameters:

EFT TEST - Electrical Fast Transient (EFT)/ Burst Immunity Test
Output voltage 0.2 ~ ±5kV
Frequency 1kHz ~ 1200KHz ±10%, continuous adjustable
Polarity Positive/negative/alternating
Pulse running time 1 ~ 9999s, continuous adjustable
Discharge resistor 330Ω
Internal resistance 50Ω ±10%
Pulse rise time 5ns ±30%
Pulse width 50ns ±30% (50Ω load), 35 ns~150 ns (1kΩ load)
Number of pulses 1 ~ 255, continuous adjustable
Burst period 0.15 ~ 99.99s, continuous adjustable
Phase 0 ~ 359°synchronous, asynchronous, automatic
