Product Testing Services in Canada

Product Testing services in Ontario, Calgary, Manitoba, Canada

At International Testing Laboratory Inc., we make it a priority to ensure that our customers meet their testing and inspection requirements in a timely manner, and accordingly are available to hear from our clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. International Testing Laboratory (INTL) offers Product Testing Services in Canada for CE, electrical products, environmental, Hazardous Locations, Medical products and IP ratings.

International Testing Laboratory Inc. (INTL) is accredited by American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) as an ISO 17025 Testing Laboratory (TL)to conduct Electrical and Mechanical tests of various products. Our team of experience test engineers are capable to perform various test to cover our customer’s Electrical, Environmental, Hazardous Location, Ingress Protection (IPXX Test), Impact (IK Test), Mechanical or other testing requirements.

Our laboratory is equipped with wide variety of latest testing equipment to meet customers demand and provide efficient testing data. With vast experience and knowledge of our team at International Testing Laboratory Inc., we provide services for below areas:

A CE Marking signifies that the manufacturer of a product has declared that a product meets all requirements of the relevant EC Directives. All products possessing a CE marking comply with each of the applicable health, safety, and environmental protection requirements. As such, it is lawfully required that all products, prior to being placed on the European market, bear a CE Mark.

“Product Directives” and “Harmonized Standards” fall under the category of CE markings. Both product directives and harmonized standards contain the mandatory requirements or performance levels that each product must conform to.

Electrical products have consumed the modern world. As such, any products that can be plugged into a wall and/or have a permanent electrical connection are required to undergo electrical testing.
Environmental testing allows a product to be tested against a variety of simulated conditions in order to evaluate its ability to withstand stress. These environmental conditions can mimic extreme climates, as well as physical stressors.

Hazardous Locations (HazLoc) are locations that are at a high risk of experiencing fires or explosions. These hazards can take place due to ignitable gases/liquids, vapours, and dusts/fibres in the area. As such, any processes or products that may contribute to an explosive atmosphere must be evaluated against Canadian or International safety standards. Fields that commonly require Hazardous Locations Testing include:

● Mining

● Oil and Gas

● Chemical processing/refining

● Agriculture

● Pharmaceutical

The term ‘IP Rating’ stands for Ingress Protection Rating. IP Rating Testing allows electrical enclosures to be evaluated for their ability to withstand disturbance from solid objects, dust, accidental contact, and water. Testing is done in accordance with the IEC/EN 60529 standard.
Before any medical electrical equipment or medical electrical systems can be introduced to the market, they must undergo a testing process in order to determine that they are suitable for use in a medical environment. Whether this means testing a device to ensure that it is not susceptible to electromagnetic interference, or evaluating its compliance with Canadian and International safety standards, International Testing Laboratory Inc. is here to support you in making medical advancements possible.

At International Testing Laboratory Inc., we make it a priority to ensure that our customers meet their testing requirements in a timely manner, and our vibration table can perform testing per following standards:

– ISO 2247 fully loaded transport packaging and unit cargo. Fixed low frequency vibration test

– ISO 13355 Packaging – all, filled transport packaging and unit load – vertical arbitrary vibration test

– IEC 60068 basic environmental test procedures

– ASTM D999 Vibration test method for shipping container

– ASTM D4728 Random vibration test method for transport container

– ASTM D3580 Product Vibration Test (Vertical Linear Motion) Standard

– GB/T 4857 Packaging transport package basic test

– GB/T 2423 Environmental Test for Electrical and Electronic Products

– IEC 60945 and DNV

Along with other ingress protection testing for dust and water, International Testing Laboratory Inc. offers testing of enclosures for various products by exposing them to high pressure and temperature water jets for IPX9 and IPX9K.Both IPX9 and IPX9K rating gives the product an ability to withstand water jets spray with high temperature and pressure but the test procedure and requirements are different.IEC 60529 defines the test procedure for IPX9 rating where as ISO 20653 defines test procedure for IPX9K rating.
Glow wire test exposes the non-metallic material to a non-flammable heat source in an indirect flame test and ensuring that material is resistant to ignite and, if ignition occurs, its capacity to self-extinguish, as well as its ability to prevent dripping flames. Glow Wire Test in Canada is also used to simulate the heating effects that can occur due to malfunctioning of electrical equipment as a result of an overloaded connection or overheating component or current carrying parts located in close proximity of non-metallic material. INTL Inc. has glow wire apparatus that is compliant to IEC 60695-2-10 and is capable to perform glow wire testing up to the temperature of 1100°C.
Salt Spray or Salt Fog test is primarily used to check the corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings on painted, metal, and coated metals which are supposed to provide a degree of corrosion protection. INTL Inc. test chambers create high-saline environments by artificially simulating salt spray environmental conditions via accelerated time and salt exposure to the specimens.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) test method is to simulate ESD environment during installation and operation of a product to verify its resistance against electrostatic discharge. ESD test can deteriorate or damage electronic components inside the equipment which effect its functionality or eventually can damage the equipment. Our ESD test in Canada apparatus complies with IEC 61000-4-2 that can perform ESD testing services to ensure that our client’s equipment comply with required ESD discharge levels.
Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) are high frequency pulses that occurs because of the arcing on the power lines due connection or disconnection. This also occurs when relays, contactors, motors, or any other inductive load are turned off, then power distribution system experiences bursts of narrow high-frequency transients which can affect the performance of electronic equipment or might damage it. IEC 61000-4-4 defines the test procedure to simulate these electrical fast transients and test the product to verify its susceptibility level.
Surge testing is the procedure of simulating and injecting unidirectional surges caused by over-voltages from switching or lightning transients to evaluate susceptibility of electrical and electronic equipment to these surge interferences.IEC 61000-4-5 defines the test setup, test levels and procedure to perform the surge test. Test levels are selected based on the different environment and installation conditions defined in the standard.Surge generator at INTL Inc. can perform testing as per IEC 61000-4-5 using combination waveform (1.2/50µs) up to test level of 6kV.
Normally when a surge enters a structure, its remarkably close to combination Ring Wave surge (1.2/50µs or 8/20µs). However, by the time it travels over a length of mains cables and around the structure, the waveform dramatically changes – the current decreases and transforms into a decaying 100kHz wave show below. This phenomenon also occurs when surge goes through the filter which causes the coils to ‘ring’ at the circuit’s resonant frequency or caused by switching of electrical networks, reactive loads, power-circuit failures, insulation breakdown or lightening in low-voltage cables.IEC 61000-4-12 defines the test setup, test levels and procedure to perform the ring wave surge test. Ring wave surge generator at INTL Inc. can perform testing as per IEC 61000-4-12 up to the test level of 6kV.
Voltage dips and interruptions are caused by sudden changes in power grid, power facility failures or loads. In some cases, there will be two or more consecutive rollovers or interrupts. The voltage change is caused by a continuous change in the load connected to the grid. If the EUT on power supply voltage changes cannot respond in a timely manner, it may lead to failures. INTL Inc. has voltage dips and interruptions generator that is compliant to IEC 61000-4-11 .
